Which sizes go into the .ico?
16, 32 and 48 pixels — the sizes browsers and Windows actually read. Each is a sharp PNG rendered from your original, packed into a single .ico container. The favicon page also gives you a 180 px apple-touch-icon.png for iOS.
My image is not square — what happens?
It is centered on a transparent square (contain), never stretched or cropped. For best results start from a square logo.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
