Old photo restorer

Restore old photos — with our own AI, on your device.

We trained this model ourselves on public-domain photographs: it cleans grain, JPEG blocks and scan noise, then enlarges 4x. Nothing is uploaded.

Frequently asked

What makes this different from the generic upscaler?

We trained this model ourselves, specifically on old-photo damage: film grain, double JPEG compression, faded contrast and blur. On clean modern images the generic upscaler is a better fit; on old scans and worn prints this one produces visibly cleaner results.

What data was the model trained on?

Only public-domain and CC0 photographs (Met Museum Open Access, Library of Congress, Openverse CC0). Your images never train our models — that is a hard rule, not a setting.

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. The ~5 MB model downloads to your browser once and runs there via WebAssembly. Your photo never leaves your device.
