Frequently asked
How is this different from just resizing?
Plain resizing stretches existing pixels, so edges go soft. The Real-ESRGAN model reconstructs plausible detail — edges, textures, lines — trained on millions of image pairs. It cannot invent truth that was never there, but the result is visibly sharper than interpolation.
Why is there an input size limit?
4× means 16× the pixels: a 2 MP input already produces a 32 MP output. The limit keeps the tool reliable on ordinary laptops and phones — honest engineering instead of a crashed tab.
Is my image uploaded to a GPU server?
No. The ~5 MB model downloads to your browser once and runs there via WebAssembly. Your image never leaves your device — and never trains our models.
